About the course

Management skills are the ability to plan, organise and direct a team’s work and to monitor its results. They help a manager turn goals into clear tasks, share out responsibility well, give timely feedback and keep the team focused on results. During the course, participants will learn to set SMART goals and priorities, delegate tasks, give constructive feedback, run effective meetings and difficult conversations, and apply the skills they have gained in everyday management situations.

Who it is for

This course is designed for newly appointed and experienced managers, team and project leads, and specialists preparing to take on a management role. It is also suitable for those who want to spend less time “fighting fires” and more on developing their team and its results.

  • the core functions of management: planning, organising, leading and controlling
  • Robert Katz’s model: the role of technical, human and conceptual skills at different levels of management
  • the principles of delegation, feedback and performance management

Why choose this course

A good specialist does not automatically become a good manager. Leading a team takes different skills: planning other people’s work, delegating, giving feedback and taking responsibility for the whole team’s results.
This course gives you practical tools for everyday management, so that your team works towards clear goals and you are not overloaded by doing everything yourself.
If you want your team to work independently, consistently and with a focus on results, this is the right choice.

Frequently asked questions

How do management skills differ from leadership?

Leadership is about setting a direction and inspiring people, while management skills are about making that direction happen: planning, organising work, delegating and monitoring results. An effective manager needs both.

What will I learn on the course?

You will learn to set team goals and priorities, delegate tasks, give constructive feedback, run effective meetings and track your team’s results.

Will the course help if I have just become a manager?

Yes. The course is especially useful in the transition from specialist to manager, when you need to learn to achieve results through your team rather than through your own work alone.
